The sky is lined with gray-rimmed clouds
Splattered paint on a canvas sheet
Cottage windows lit with candles
Release a wave of lulling heat
Tears fall to the pastures below
Hearts long with a bottomless pain
Though it is known of a sunlit path
Our grief collapses like rain
If only you’d withstand this life
But a single day furthermore
Your time, short-lived, begins to cease
God’s knocking at your heart’s door
May the seraphs resound your coming
And the birds chant to your last breath
The world has lost a boy of dreams
But Heavens knows not such a death
Author notes
To Josh Roose, who is hanging in there in his final moments of life, and whom I know will never give up. And to Joe, who meant no harm ... may he learn that the situation is in God’s hands now.

This poem is so touching! I feel your pain. Just to point out, but check the grammar on "Heavens Knows". =)
