What exactly does this mean?
To me it means forever eternally dedicated to one person.
It means that no matter how big the fight that I will love you forever and for always.
It means that I will always stand by your side, no matter how much it may hurt.
It means that I will never stand in front of you because I am no greater than you, nor will I stand behind you because you are no greater than me, therefore we are equal.
All of this is devotion to me.
It is knowing that if the power be mine then I would move the mountains, heaven and stars, if that is what you wanted.
It is knowing that we will always take away each others pain, no matter how much it hurts.
It is knowing that I would give my life for you just so you could live to see another day.
All of this is devotion to me.
But above all it is knowing that we will spend all the days of our lives working to complete each other......this is devotion to me.

This is a poem dedicated to my better half Kodie. Whom I love very much and would go to the end of the world and back for.

Hey girl, haven't talked to you all summer really. And I decided randomly to get on here and read your latest. Of course, I love it and I love all your other poems. But then again, reading this made me feel uncomfortable because I've never experienced this type of feeling before and I doubt I ever will but.....I don't wanna talk about sad stuff anymore.

I thought imediatly about the people in my life I feel dedicated to. To me, that means this piece is more then just a good write, its true. I also liked the format, it helped to set the devotion feeling. Great -true- Write!

This is a really cool poem. I would tell you how you did so great on defining 'devotion' but everyone else has so it wouldn't be anything new. I did like how you dedicated this to someone, that was really sweet.

What I liked: you have an interesting argument about what devotion is and is not. Your message is clear, concise, and easily digestable. This is definitely material for dialogue.
What I didn't like: I thought this would have been better suited for an essay rather than poetry. Poetry is more for the "Gee whiz" adventure in reading -- exciting twists of phrase, and all. However, essays are more for clean, crisp arguments. I think this would be better as a five paragraph essay. -
A very good definition of devotion! I think that you've pretty much covered the basics of what devotion means. Great job with this!

And yes you nailed what devotion is in the truest sense of the word. You could almost make this a wedding vow, when the time is right or if you're already married, use it for your second wedding. Ok, I know, Dee's being presumptuous...AGAIN!

I love what it says, very awesome. if you were to refine that into a more poetic form then it would be much more powerful. you used words that express your feelings well. it seems like you've got the emotions to write very powerful poems, you just need to put them into words. your definition of devotion says it all. if only more people were devoted to each other in this manner. great job!!!

a very good definition of devotion
it means more than just putting someone before everything else,
it means that both people must be devoted to each other,
not that one person should mindlessly sacrifice him/herself for the other
the part that says "you are no greater than me" counters the idea that one person is a servant for the other
was nice to read a poem that wasn't about suicide/dark stuff for once

Oh this was so beautiful and passionate. It is wonderful when we find our true love I know I have found mine and you have found yours by the sounds of this poem. You write of a love that is very deep and strong. The love you both share is very special and should be shared and treasured forever. Finding true love that you write about is difficult, but I firmly believe there is someone out there for everyone as you have found out. This is so lovely and passionate I hope that you will sing of your love forever and be with each other for all eternity you deserve to be. Beautifuly thought and expression...devotion is a very strong word as well as the feeling itself...for someone to make you feel devotion they have to have shown it to you on some level that allowed you to be able to open up and feel that for them..may the feeling between you two never change...

very good job. I usually dont go for poems if they dont rhyme but this is so wonderful! You are so right about the meaning but there is no devotion in the world unless you are devoted to god first.
