When I leave this world, I retreat
To a place of my own creation, smooth yet deep.
Its a place no other may follow
A place of tranquil moonlight that gives a silvery glow.
All of my thoughts here are formless
Yet they have substance all the same.
As if my soul were a guide, and my mind a mere traveler
To this place of silvery sheen and flow.
Relaxing, soothing, but with a strong pull,
I long to linger here for a thousand years
But drift inexorably back to reality,
Where all of my greatest fears are realized.
In my silver world of escape, I am king.
I control the wooded landscape with mountains in the background.
Creatures of no realistic form reside here
In this place of fantastic longing.
It reminds me of that which I will never have:
Peace of mind when faced with reality,
But is not a place of sadness.
Easy on the eyes, and light on the heart, this place.
Time holds no meaning, and days are mere moments
Footnotes in the dance of daze where my soul is.
Silvery, tranquil light flowing from everything
This place is my mind, my escape from the world.

I had something in mind for this poem when I began, but it took on a life of its own!

Very well written! I find this quite tranquil and filled with beauty and depth. My favorite type of poetry...pieces that make my mind reach and delve. Love this

I thought this was an absolutely amazing poem. Vivid yet so subtle in it's imagery. Well expressed ; the duality between our talkative mind which is so caught up in the world, and the quiet , peaceful and beautious realm of the heart that also exists inside a human being. A great poem

Excellent poem. It really makes you think about what your peaceful place would be and I like that. I look forward to reading more of your works.
