Where I Fly

Soaring through the open sky
A great white eagle sailing high
Glancing down to the depths below
Remembering what it was like so long ago
Before I learned how to fly

My mind racing down
Remembering the places below
All the excitement and all the woe
And yet, all I ever did was frown
For where I am now holds the true crown

Thinking back to the pain
Remembering the ways souls were slain
Remembering when I found the light of the highest sky
And that is how I learned to fly

Above the stars
With the earth below
The horrible memories
Have been let go

The brightest light illuminating my sky
Leaving behind the troubles other people exist by
If only others could find this light which illuminates me
They too would see
It is best not to walk the grounds but to fly

To fly with me in the highest sky

Author notes

For the contest, this poem is the topic of Flying Without Wings.  This poem probably can be interpreted millions of different ways and that is fine but the way I wrote it was to express how my faith in God and my religion help me to fly high with Him at all times

This is kinda sad but also full of hope and faith. I like it. The language is good and the rhyme. Thanks for entering
