come down and sit here with me

watery drops

                    fill heavily

                          lined eyes.

     in the darkness

                  no one else can see
      except me...
                             standing so closely.

cars pass quickly

            by the sidewalk

                    where i'm sitting.

      they don't know about
                       her tears.
                              or of your ending
a year ago by where they drive now.

  they pass by so nonchalantly.
                    i wonder if they're happy.

         i hope they are.

you slowly let go of this railing
that i look up at now from below,
spanning the ocean,
taking people to this suffocating city.

this railing, this step,
          kept your thin heart beating.
  that one step
      takes it all away.

the world is going on without you.

     blood written tragedy on
              the pavement where i stand.

the rain has almost washed it away now.
