Kasshyk, the land that I love.
I was taken from you long ago by life, through dark, corrupted.
I was beaten and forced to work, locked up and silenced.
And when I fought back,
I was nearly killed.
But then you came to my aid.
A man cast out, away from the empires grip.
You stopped him from taking my life,
and in turn I gave you mine.
A wookie life debt can not be broken,
no matter how hard you may try.
Since that day we've been through alot,
working for Hutts and thugs and scum.
Gambling our lives on Nar Shadda,
fighting the empire in the skies, high above Nal hutta,
using great magic tricks for misdirection.
This is why I must free you, my friend.
I owe you my life.
You told me to look after your love,
just before they threw you in,
and handed you over to Fett.
You told me to protect her.
But how can I protect her heart from breaking?
The only way is to free you.
No matter how long it takes,
you will no longer be held in the grip of that slimy hutt.
I must do this for you, I owe you.
I must do this for Leia, she loves you.
I must do this for the life force, for the honor of the Wookie way of life.
Author notes
Choice #1, this was written from the point of view of Chewbacca. It was written as sort of a letter to Han Solo, between episodes V and VI, right after Han was put into Carbonite freeze.

I love this. It is a heart felt write from Chewbacca. I can feel his devotion and dedication to his friend. His honor is great, desiring to stand by his debt, but I feel it is his love for Han and adventure which keeps him by his side. Great write!
Thank you for entering this in the contest.
May the force be with you, always!

Ahhh, nice tribute to Chewie! He too is one of my favorite characters, so it's good to see someone write about him!
