"Look, over there- a purple cow!"
"What?! Where?! A purple cow?!"
"I want to see!"
"Ready? Let's go to the National Zoo."
"Do they have purple cows?! Let's look for purple cows."
it all began with Uncle Ira
history professor by day
crazy uncle by night
my yellow and purple outfit
bright orange and green
so Ira said
my first trip to Washington, D.C.
o, the excitement!
my first time at the National Zoo
looking for...purple cows?
why, of course, purple cows!
you haven't heard of or seen the purple cows?!
o my, you're missing out!
how terrible, what a day!
you must come, tomorrow
tomorrow, are you free tomorrow?
we're leaving on search of purple cows

Nyah! I want a purple cow
My grandad promised me a purple unicorn and i never got one. Purple animals are obviously hard to find! Liked the poem, very sweet and light hearted, was obviously attracted by the fact that there are purple cows in it but the structure and language is great too
-
totally will check it out.
-
haha, it is sweet. i should send it to ira too. there's actually a whole contest about purple cows...check it out.
-
dude, you wrote one about the purple cows. sweet...ira would be proud, you should send it to him. awesome sash.

i'm not sure if you wear purple, or if you where something that will blend in. do the purple cows want to see you?
-
I want to come! Purple cows to me is like the Holy Grail of animals. What does one wear when one goes in search of a purple cow? Hmmm, something purple I guess.
Thanks for entering this in our wacky contest.
-
I knew that they were holding the purple cows somewhere. The purple cows should be walking free with the green bears, not caged in zoo
Your entry is amusing and makes a very nice children poem.
Thanks for this one and all the best with everything you do!

haha. thanks for the comment and the applause!

I think you have a companion piece to go with this ... something titled "The Purple Cow Blues." It wouldn't be written from the perspective of a child. Maybe like a jilted lover. "My baby took me to the zoo / didn't get to see those purple cows / before the day was over / my baby left me too." You get the idea. lol Love your poem. Sorry I went off in the comments. I'm just trying to score big points from allpoetry.com so I can have a Purple Cow Contest or a Lost Iguana Boogie songwriting contest.
