Love 'em Anyway

When you wake up 50 times in the middle of the night
Just to hear 'em screaming
When you can't figure out what's wrong
And could just go back to dreaming

You're going to love 'em anyway

When a couple years pass by
And they're getting older
And everything they seen to do
Makes you grow even colder

You're going to love 'em anyway

When the time comes
And they're finally old enough
They'll think they're all that
And they believe they're so tough

You're going to love 'em anyway

And then one day it happens
They're gone in the blink of an eye
They run off, get married away
And all you want to do is cry

You're going to love 'em anyway

You're time won't last forever
You're days are running thin
One day you're here, the next you're gone
It abruptly came to an end

And that's when you regret...
Not showing 'em every day
That no matter what they did
You loved 'em anyway...

Author notes

Oh. That was precious. I have two kids under 2 years old. I can relate totally. And also from my moms perspective, as I've grown, all the grief I've put her through, she loved me anyway!
    Nice write.

thanks so much for the comment. i greatly appreciate it. i'm about 7 or so weeks pregnant (i know its not alot) but i already have so much stuff going on in my mind. and i want to show my child that i care. i grew up in a "not-so-lovey" house, and didnt get much love shown towards me, and i dont want the same for my baby. sorry for such a long-drawn-out response... just wanted to say thanks!

    excellent

How true this is and what a creative way you wrote it. I see so many children who never hear the words "I love you". It could have changed their entire lives
