And there were days.
Oh, how there were days of careless abandon
While summer somersaulted wild and free betwixt my locks of hair
And sunshine shined on my golden bronze face, taunt from burning for more
When cotton-ball clouds paraded like animals at the circus, and we identified
Everyone of them.
And there were nights.
Oh, how there were nights of silent serenity
While morose moonlight seemed magical reflecting off my skin
And flickering fires became emblazoned in dilated pupils
When shimmering stars glittered histories above our sleepy heads, and we identified
Everyone of them.
And the summer never seemed to come quick enough back then.
We had to wait through frigid falls, windy winters, sopping springs
Until summer splendor fell upon us once again in all it's innocent glory
But now the summers come too quick.
The seasons barrel through, and I try to catch the falling leaves
Falling snowflakes
Falling raindrops
But I seem to miss
Everyone of them.

Author notes
I was thinking about when I was younger...how the school year seemed so long, how summer would never come, how wonderful and glorious summer was. Now that I'm in college, the school year has gone too quick, I feel like I can't catch a moment in time like I used to, and the summers aren't even as wonderful as they used to be.
And the last decent phone conversation was with the love of my life, my boyfriend

Firstly, thanks for your comments on 'Stay... Dead'. I really appreciated them.
(Thinking of renaming it 'Homicidal Tendencies', btw...) Anyway! I enjoyed reading this very much. Almost like looking through an album my own summer memories. I liked your use of repetition to build a continuous thought/voice throughout the poem. (Besides, its a style I'm partial to as well. hehe) Your conclusion fits nicely with the piece's voice; I loved how everything came to a close. To conclude: really well done! Can't wait to read more from you.
Take care

Excellent streaming thoughts! I so enjoyed the recalling of your cherished moments, I identified with them as well, and as for the clock seeming to spiral on ahead of us, It does indeed, every year seems to come and go that much quicker.
Congratulations on your much deserved Silver!!
Let the ink flow!
Blessings, Sandi

Oh wow..this is awesome. Time does pass by far too quickly as we grow older. I wonder sometimes if the Lord is moving time along quicker because the world is in such a mess, or if age passes quicker than youth. I love this write, it is reminiscent to my life as well. Wonderful read.

this is so great. i love the repeating line and how it works so well. as i was reading this i thought of childhood as well, so you've done your mission there. your reflection on childhood summers (and their glorious value to youth) is just perfect. i really enjoyed this poem.
thank you so much and best of luck.
