There was something in her eye
Something protruding visibly
But she did not cry because of it
She did not cry because it was ripping through her insides
Or because her beauty was hindered
By the massive tree branch growing out of her eye socket
She cried because he was no longer at her side
The man had left her to die
She had not strength enough to wield the axe
As he had done in the past to slaughter such demons
No key to unlock the door to the garden
Where the insidious roots grew deep
Into the pit of her stomach
Wrapping themselves around every organ
Nor the eye to ensure that she would not sever her own arteries
Her tears grew numerous
The tree rejoiced, extending vines through her nostrils,
Catching the falling tears,
Pulsating with strength at every little addition
Dehydration was upon her
She shed her last tear
Bracing herself, the parasite rumbled with anticipation
With great effort her head fell forward
Tear & Monster flew from her face
Landing on the ground, formed as a locket
Gold chain holding opals hostage, and a picture
She kicked the necklace across the floor
Watching his face glimmer once, then fade
