I placed you in the soil that day,
your memory fresh on my mind.
My heart as empty as your chair.
Escaping the endless chatter,
I retreat outside to your Garden of Eden.
This lush oasis created by loving hands,
how I wish you were near.
Numb and dazed I caught a glimpse,
disbelieving what my eyes spot.
A portly bird with a curious stare,
and feathers of greenish-blue.
You always spoke of coming back as a bird,
with plumes of turquoise.
"That way you will know it's me."
Perched on that cypress tree,
your presence comforts.
Exchanging knowing glances,
and getting the chance to say goodbye.
You leave again soaring towards the sky.
All will be fine for you are always near,
My little turquoise bird of paradise.
