pouring deep into my soul
honor is His gift
Author notes
I believe honor comes from the very deepest part of a person's being - where our faith and hope and love abide.
"Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves." - Romans 12:10
This won an honorable mention in Angleeyes323 contest "HONOR is a mans gift to himself" 5/17/05.

I was expecting more, lol but what you wrote is enough to ponder fresh thoughts you inspire. Honour does come from God or perhaps he unlocks it. The picture's compelling and I thought of C.S.Lewis' fictional children when I saw it. An inspiring write.

You said alot of truth and three small lines. Awesome and I loved reading this. the picture at the top really gave me an idea of the message you were trying to send. You deserved every applause you got on this and I know you're going to get alot more. I don't want to bring you down...but I think you're missing a syallable in the first line...don't worry too much it might be the way I'm saying it. Excellent job and I'm glad I got the chance to read some haiku. I'm not a big fan of it, but this poem really hit home with me...

This is like wow.
Lol.
Very good, and I'm honored to have found this and read it.
Your writing is amazing.

Honor is a powerful thing to have, and you have honored it with simplicity and valor. Great haiku.

Concept: I also believe “honor” comes from the deepest of a person’s being. Honor comes from the core of who we want to be, despite who we've been. It's never too late to dig deep within ourselves and find that honor that lies within. It's there, but we have to have the desire to find it.
Originality: Using so few words to get your concept across takes talent and you pulled that off well
form and structure: Clean and easy to read
voice: Direct and provokes thought and emotion
word choice: Simplistic but effective
overall presentation: The image is very moving. It goes along with this piece perfectly. You managed to define honor in such a vivid way, yet with so few words
Thank you for your entry and best of luck

Oh, Joanne! I love the addition of the picture. It is wonderful.
Luv ya tons, B♥n

we all have the ability to honor one another, Jesus is our example of that. Although, we must remember that honor is earned, and given to those that we love and admire. Honor given to one unworthy will be wasted, hence we should respect all, and honor all who are worthy of honor. But yes to be honorable is in all of us, and that comes from a supernatural God.

Nice work of words. I liked the fact it's haiku-ish, even though it's a bit more contemporary.
It's short and powerful - the kind of poetry I like!
Good luck in contest! -
No offense, but I don't think this is a real Haiku. As a regular, short poem it's extremely good, but a Haiku is something completely different. A haiku relies almost exclusively on sensory perceptions, and paints a single moment or secene. It also usually deals in nature. This poem does none of these things.
It's a great poem, and describes something powerful with a small amount of words, but it's not a haiku. -
Really great, fantastic, and perfectly put! Great job, keep it up and good luck to you in the contest.
-
It would be better without the graphic.
If words are any good, they are almost always stronger standing alone.
I endorse the sentiment. -
Well said. Leaves me want, curiosity. . .more from who is man behind the author. So, I shall read some of your other works.
-
i really agree

Great short write. I think that the image is PERFECT for this poem and I'm wondering which came first, the pic or the idea for the write?
-
Priceless and paid for
An excellent haiku of eternal allegience to God. He is all things, one and indivisiible. I'm going to print this one and put it on the wall over my computer desk, so when i day dream it will remind me what to come back to, thank you so much! -
Short but you really hit hard with it. I liked this a lot.
i wish I could write something short and powerful....i don't have that gift though lol

I added a graphic that I love because it ties in my love for the children I teach. Do you think it's too much? Thank you!
-
Very cool.
-
I like the perspective on this, honour comes from within, but we can only 'access' it through the grace of God. Deep thoughts in a short poem. Very well done. Good luck in the contest!
-
How simply beautiful! Nice job! By whatever name we call it...it truly is a gift!
-
Excellent
As the Bible says, honor others and God will honor you. This is fantastic, Joanne! For, indeed, God honors us within when we do His will. Short, sweet, and mighty powerful piece here that should win the contest!
Lots of love and hugs, B♥n
