I glance ,
but from a distance
as the universe of words congregate
in the temple of my mind,
and i grab my fountain of ink
and a blank sheet of paper
as these words become a quick reality.
I see the letters
hug and fight in the limitless ring of my mind
as my ink obeys the masterpiece
my imagination creates.
Two words ,
and then i stop, and think
Should I?
should I portray the crude pieces
that have been born in me?
And as quickly as the thought comes
my pen in unstop able velocity
races across the plain white lane
that have stretched itself before me.
I smile, I shed a tear or two
I laugh, then i feel sorry
as the lines begin to tell me stories
that resurrect a whirlwind of mixed emotions,
I am satisfied.
For once only can i give birth
to this innocent child,
as she stares at me
from within the thin walls of the
canvas
that has become my best friend.

This is wonderful. I love the thought of the fight with the letters, very intriguing. Thank you for entering the contest, good luck.

congratulations on the hm. I think you aptly describe that so illusive thing we call a muse. It comes and we must grab a pen, a pencil even an eyeliner ... then we hustle for paper, a napkin ... a bathroom wall! Anything to capture our thoughts that can soon be gone. Good job and thank you for entering the contest.

I do believe the things we do, are as much a part of who we are as a child. Regardless of the prompt in my poetry I do write for the contest, the ones that inspire the words to come forth and display themselves proudly on a page.
I too am passionate in regards to my poetry, putting a part of me in every one of them. Win or lose isn't the true value--the value comes from the passion I've put into the piece. It comes only from within me.
I like all the things this poem brings to mind, and in its own suttle way shows how passion can be found.
Thanks for entering the 'Passions' contest, it was my pleasure to read your work. The best of luck to you.

This was a delight to read. Such originality - you depicted the stages of writing poetry brilliantly and the imagery that you used was brilliant - i love how you personify the words a poet can create 'they hug and fight'. I don't think I can really fault this poem even though a critical view is invited! Well done
Best of luck
