All I feel, is my heart softly quaking
you hands begin slowly, lace through my own
As now you sleep silent, never waking
the shortest 40 miles I've ever known.
Cars rush by us on these cool summer nights.
I remember all you said on the beach
Your love, never blinding, unlike these lights
you beautiful soul, never out of reach
When the curfew bell rings, a hideous tone
the thought of us parting fills me with rage
Our conversations best without a phone
you whisper comfort, our love has no cage.
Short visit over, time too quickly gone by
the door creaks closed and you begin to cry.

Bravo!
This is really an excellent poem. fine cadance, superb meter and very good rhyme. all these are rarely seen in a single poem on this site. wonderful! You understand how all of the above are supposed to work and you have employed them to wonderful, marvelous advantage! Superb poem! Bravo! -
This is a very powerful and loving write. You've penned so many wonderful emotions and feelings into this poem. Nicely done.

Sweet!
This was very nice. Time does always seem to go by fast when you are with someone you love. Parting is so painful even if you know you will see eachother again. You captured very powerful emotions. I guess the next most logical thing to say would be "Darn you curfews!" *Shakes fist* =) -
Title is soo eye catching.. simply had to read it.. and no, the poetry itself did not dissapoint either! equisite rhyme too.. it flows so that you almost dont notice its there.. sublime!
Reminds me of funerals for some reason.

Very good
There is a great deal of depth in this one and you have captured something personal here I feel. I liked the imagery as well. This is good.
