A Baby's Cry

Lord I hear the cries of babies all across this land.
Like trash, they're thrown in foul garbage cans.

Some are discarded in trash bags to die,
My heart is moved by sounds of their cry.

Some are kidnapped and never come back,
Some are sold for dope by the pack.

Some are sexually abused by the closest of kins,
Some are destroyed by abortionist hands,
Some are shaken to death by cold-hearted men.

Let's pray for our Babies, themselves they can't defend,
If we continue to pray, there's VICTORY in the end.

Author notes

This poem was written on behalf of babies who were abused or died by the hands of others.

you have a tender heart, full of compassion, you could not have written something this moving without it. may that compassion continue to grow and flourish in you and may you continue to write so brilliantly.

    blessings and best wishes, ~richard

Thank you for writing this for my contest. There are too many children hurt and killed in our world these days. So many women getting pregnant just to kill thier unborn child.. or just throwing it away in a near by dumpster... It really breaks my heart. As a mother I just dont know how anyone could bring their self to do such horrible things..

Thanks again for entering my contst,
    Tammy

This has deeply touched my heart. I have never been one who could bring myself to hurt a child, and I could never have had an abortion. I was blessed with four beautiful children, and I treasure them all.

A beautifully, but haunting piece. Thank you for your entry, and good luck in the contest. Hugs, Patricia

That was deep and touching. I think alot of times in society we take children for granted. We forget how very precious they are, I'm not a mother yet but I could not imagine harming or having my child harmed. A great poem!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my, this is so eye-opening and terribly sad! I never thought of it that way, I mean you are aware of these things happening but the way you put it all together just brings it home. I think it's terrible the way some people can actually harm a human being, let alone an innocent child. This is a great piece in that it tackles the issue maturely and effectively. Well done! xxxx
