Across the strings
My arm starts to tremble
I begin to sweat
The notes sound
Out of tune to me
But my instructor
Looks please.
I play the notes
One by one
Keeping a steady beat
The song gets faster
I pray to God
I don't mess up
And I keep
My beautiful rhythm
The song goes slower
I give it all my heart
With a vibrato
I finish
The judges clap
My instructor looks thrilled
For I am a winner today.
Author notes
This poem is about my first orchestra competion. I was doing a solo all by myself and I had only been playing for a little less then 6 monthes. I was soooo nervous that I was gonna suck. However I must have played better than I thought cause I wont first place. I was soooo happy with myself. Now viola is my life. I practice it every day. It's something I am good at, and am sooo glad I took up. It means the world to me.

Hey! Too awesome. ::now wishes she could play anthing worth a damn:: I'm trying to learn keyboard by myself though. I'm so slow.
Anyhow, sorry I didn't check you out sooner. I hadn't been on the site in a while because I've been in a poetry dry spell. You're an awesome writer and I'm glad you joined. XD I look forward to reading your stuff. -
Thanx and I changed it thanx for reminding me I'm sorry I forgot to do it.

that's awesome. (both the story and the instrument you play.) i have a weakness for the string section. ^_-
just a little note though... there's one rule you forgot. it's not a super important one, but i'm letting you know to be fair. i think... it's #5 (my contest, you'd think i'd remember.)
so check that out! i'd hate to disqualify you for something so stupid. this is too good a poem for that!
