Burying One of Their Own

"Don't forget us, Mateo,"
She whispered to the night.
Students clustered around her,
"Rest in peace, sweet sprite."

Author notes

On May 4th, 2005, Matthew David Sarno died from acute leukemia.  Everyone thought he had the flu.

No poem I write can do him justice. . . he was perfection.

Rest in Peace, Mateo.
