Another heron cinquain.
This bird has a story that I hope to tell in the future, but for now, this OLD heron needed something. I saw one just like this, he looked like a grandpa.

Well, that picture sure does look haughty! LOL Great description.

Herons walk with just that stateliness. Last summer I had the opportunity of watching one fishing at the riverbank, as I sat in my father's garden only 30 yards away. He saw me, I watched him, for about half an hour. Your poem is very well done.

That heron picture doesn't just look like any old grandpa...that looks like my grandpa!
lol
The heron is a dignified creature, although I don't see too many of them migrating around these parts
I think this particular bird can be a little narcissistic too, though... but they are a wonder to look at, in travels I've seen a couple here and there, face to face. This was a succinct, wonderfully composed cinquain. And I just noticed that you are the one who the little birdie emoticon was made for.
Do you think AP will make me one on my birthday?
Lovely write. Good luck to you in the contest!
Many blessings,

That's pretty sweet.
You succeeded in capturing the moment of a heron's superficial character. -
stunning
I enjoyed this very much
They rather have the look of an old and dusty Barrister
Rumpole of the Bailey, spring to mind. Sorry you are probably not familiar with him, but it was a televison programme. Great likeness

I do so love the form and I know how you love birds, and this was a treat.
best of luck to you in the contest

Cheryl: I think your Blue Heron would love this cinquain, I mean really laugh with enjoyment at it. It is perfection and I love it. Hope you win with him. Heaps of luck.

It is a magnificent bird. I've always marveled at their patience and hunting skill. Your piece describes it perfectly in just sixteen words.

Chery this bird really is stately. The way the feather drape around it's body reminds me of the top coats men wore in the 19th century. All we need to do is put a top hat on him for a caricature personna. They are very regal looking and I'm always so amazed at how still they can be. The alliteration in your Cinquain is musical. Karen

I see the baldish noggin and the hint of a beard, plus the wisdom of the elderly gentleman in this pic...so yeah, a grandpa Heron it is...
Nice Cinquain, and best of luck in this one.

this is a beautiful cinquan. it has the feel of haiku - a certain serenity that comes when speaking of nature and her creatures.
good luck in the contest!

This is a wonderful tribute to the Great Blue Heron. He is so beautiful. I can't wait to read the story.
