Daddy

Daddy

What is a Daddy?
Well any man can be a farther that is a fact.
But not all men can be a Daddy.

For a Daddy is someone that is very special.
A Daddy is someone that makes your heart light up with joy.
They’re someone that takes away all fear from the world.
He is the one that your world the very best.

My Self I lost my Daddy when I was eight years old.
He was my world that is for sure.
Even thought most of that time he was sick.
He had to stay in the bed most of the time.

I still remember the things that made him special.
His smile he had in his eyes.
Help me learn to ride my bicycle.
Eating coke and ice-cream on his bed.
Him telling me story of God and his love for us all.

And of the one promise that he made me while he was alive,
Which was that the little house next to my mother was to be mine.
So that I would always have a home no matter what life brought me.

Well he dies long before I needed that house,
But my sweet mother kept,
My Daddy word for that little house has been my home many a time when I needed it.
So to me, there is so much of his love that makes me who I am today.
May he rest in peace and love with God.

Such a heartfelt write from you Rose Patrick. You've given so many of the soft sentiments in this that we hope to have as children with our daddy's. Losing a dad at such a young age is such a difficult thing. Still, you take such wonderful memories and keep them alive through your words.

    Simply a loving, wonderful write.

    -Kim

p.s. you have one spot that you have "farther" up there that you might want to change into father. Again - it's wonderful though.

    Wonderful

*cries* It was hard reading this poem, but I wanted to see someone's point of view after I read the description below the title.....I have a father, in technicalities....but I don't have one in a sense....I never had one there to help me through the day, or even the roughest times of my life....I never had one there to speak to, or to even go see every so often....My father, he's alive, aye, but I stopped going to see him ever since he broke my arm when I was young....I don't have a father of my heart, expect for God that is....and anyways, I loved this poem, it was very well written and heartfelt...Great write!

    Blessed Be and Slainte,
    Slan,

This poem is such a wonderful poem. Most people, including me, write about their poor lives and loosing their lovers or something, but loosing a daddy... a good father, one who loves you more than anything, that has to be terrible. I have a wonderful father that I could never give up. I'm so sorry you had to loose you're daddy.

What I like: I love your story, and your deep thoughts. This comes across as warm and sad at the same time.

What I didn't like: too many typos. You should change that.

This was very emotional. I'm sure we are all remembering things about that house on Murray street that became the entire family's "home" Alas, there are many grammatical and cohesiveness problems scattered throughout. I'm going to sneak in and fix them all up

I love this...the part about anyone being a father, but it takes someone special to be a daddy, is SO true...I have a father....or I like to just call him sperm donor...and then I have a daddy....no blood line at all, but he loves me more than my father ever has, or ever will....I hate it when stuff makes me think about my real dad....but this is a great write, so I thought I would commment. Great write, keep up the good work!
