Somehow I've managed to take the entirety
Of my life: Schoolyard hang-ups, Addiction,
Desperation, death, loneliness, and place them
In a cold bucket on a boat in the ocean.
All I need now is a direction to fish
And a station that comes in.
Women arrive and go like the weather
Family die off, and love stinks
But chilled beer?
Shall be remembered.
Ps. Even if this fucking boat sinks.

nice fishy story in your poem, good choice of words, you did well in this post, thank you for entering and good luck in our contest..Linda
-
really funny! i liked how you worded it.
-
hehe nicely done and the p.s. part cracked me up!
-
your comments are just as interestingly peculiar as your comical writes. I'm laughing. then again that doesn't take much!
-
Yeah, don't you have a dildo poem to go plug or something?
-
Nice pic, funny authors comments and no plugs for your CD. Well done Horus.

All I's go to say is that...well, I think you said it all, Mr. H...
This was one of the shortest entries into the contest, yet, in its own way, I feel the most profound. And truly, there just comes a time in one's life where in order to understand it all, you must distance yourself FROM it all...and yes, even the empties are precious....beautiful work and soaked in wisdom...

take a can of beef (yes, somebody cans beef). add sour cream and wide ass fucking egg noodles, et voila! Beef stroganoff.

I will always applaud well-written homages to beer. There just are not enough sentimental beer poems out there. I was trying to figure out if the first few lines "sod I AA" might be an acrostic. Seriously, the sentimentality in the piece genuinely is well-worded, and this is yet another contest where the entries are going to largely be unoformly great. By the way, I love the line re the boat sinking hidden near the bottom.

I guess it represents society or culture (the school yard), how kids interact is a microcosm of how adults do, I guess, something like that,
perhaps it could come earlier in the list? -
School yard hangups? I really like this piece. Not sure if that phrase works. Or, i am missing the obvious. Don't say it.

Neither, I'm Captain Napkin.

Funny
Are you really Jimmy Buffet? Or perhaps Santiago , of Hemmingway fame. You got me with the fishing ( but the beer was the clincher). Hope you pull in a big one, but keep an eye on the sharks. -
Too funny. Nothing constructive to say.
-
Not a fan of beer but a refreshing poem nonetheless.
-
hahahhah

Chuck the empties out.. and start a new day
