I must confess I cannot express
How much a father beams with joy
When the kindly Matron tells him
Mr. Smith, you have a lovely bouncing Boy
He stops pacing his minds already racing
Through all the days and years to come
He sees times of fun they will share together
A family thing reserved for Father, Son and Mum
At the age of five, the Dad will surely strive
To teach him how to ride a bike and swim
They will laugh to see him fall off Roller Skates
But still offer endearing encouragement to him
At the age of seven, comes Football Heaven
And every Sunday morning they will be found
With hordes of other Kids and Parents
At the local Football training ground
At the age of eight they will be best mates
Everywhere the Father goes the Son will go there to
There’s a bond that cannot ever be broken
A respect for one another in every thing they say and do
At the age of nine the Son will be doing fine
Achievements don’t come easy, he really has to pedal
Mum and Dad will feel so very proud
As he steps up claim Certificate and Medal
Twelve full years it’s been but now the Sons a teen
Suddenly his life seems to make an unpleasant turn
No longer is he the all loving son he was
Full of confidence, Knows it all, Nothing left to learn
The sons future wife steps into their life
In the shape of a beautiful girl called Kim
She is lovely just like his Mum
They both hope that she the right one for him
At Twenty One it’s back to being Father and Son
Pals again Love and Respect returned at last
Two grown men who wish to prove
Their mistakes and differences are buried in the past
In the Fathers mind he tries to find
His Son and Kim as they make their Wedding Vow
Tears run from his eyes as he hears a voice call out
Mr. Smith you can see your baby boy right now.
