Nightingales of the Esplanade

The bedewed air lifts spirits
The birdsong, calming souls
The waters shift in subtle strokes
Tides rippling with each roll

I stroll along the esplanade
Humming in tune with the doves
A lotus blossoms on the pond
Unraveling its deepest loves

A humble Sun hangs high at Noon
Reflecting on the water’s top
A trail of ducklings glide along
Delighting in every last drop

My eyes behold the wondrous view
A boat lapsing a stone’s throw nigh
A water lily freely floats
The swans coo to the open sky

A patch of sand rests within reach
Drawing the mark of endless brine
The weathered stones fall off the path
Tides bubbling overtop the line

In time, the shine of Sun will dim
The burst of star paving its trail
Undying awe on my behalf
Confirms in the close of a nightingale

Author notes

Just a simple poem about nature, but I thought it would be nice to write one through the view of a tourist walking along a riverside's esplanade.  Hope it turned out ok =)

Though a bit on the lengthy side, this poem is wonderfully written. The rhyming flows smoothly. Best of luck in the contest!
