Micha's Fine Ghostly Tea Party

Missing image

Who is Micha- I do not know
she is brand new in my eyes
so let me delve into Micha's world
to find out where her soul truly lies…

Liberal with her worldly love
fighting hunger, fighting aids
and when hard times come her way
she has ghostly friends who come and stay…

Ogden Nash dropped in to say,
"Consider the auk, he was not wise,
so, learn how to think before you fly."
T. S. Eliot, who'd drop on by
would wax philosophical
with an occasional rhyme...

Robert Frost’s apparition appeared
right beside the other ghosts
and they'd all discourse on a lowly speck
as Micha served them tea and toast.

The Bard of Stratford upon Avon

arrived quite punctually in a feathered cap,
he’d have his tea and toast, then ask
if he could take a midnight nap.

Who would crash the slumber party
but Ginsberg in his bardic rage
against modern materialism-
the two bards would vie for center stage...

Then the door swung open loudly
and I mean swung, with a jazzy beat-
for Langston Hughes came lanking in
and swept poor Micha off her feet.

And who should make a rare appearance-
a seldom trek from her country home?
Why, Emily Dickinson strolled gracefully in,
her presence metaphysical.

The conversation changed to struggle
when Pablo Neruda ambled by,
His dog had died, but was heaven-bound;
we all needed tissues, we all cried.

Micha was beside herself,
‘Call a doctor!’ we then heard;
and at the bell was William Carlos Williams, M.D.
bantering about a little bird.

Silvia Plath admonished them
when they tried to dissect a specimen's eye;
all stopped and turned as the wind blew in
Vladimir Vladimirovich Mayakovsky.

The party ended at 3am
and Edna St. Vincent Millay reminded them,
“The queer folk in the big building are out,
do not take the road by the Asylum...”

Micha cleaned up, turns out the lights
puts on her nightime Freudian slip
got out her pen and began to write;
ghostly fingers guiding it...

Epilogue:

Did I find Micha’s soul? Her hidden heart?
Her experiments? Her oddities?
Well, no, in fact, I missed them all
while observing her ghostly tea party.

    An absolutely terrific entry... a rollicking roll under the table carressing fuzzy rabbit feet as if they were only slippers. Beware the splashing honey sweetened carpet coating dollops of overflow. Nibble crumbs.

    I think that this would be a party to never forget! While reading this, I imagined what Mi would say to 'them' if she really had the opportunity to tea party with her favorite authors.
    This is very good and creative.
    Thanks for taking the time to know a little bit of Mi's preference.
    All the best with all you do always.

    That is a creative idea for a poem, when the subject is unavailable, find out what she loves. I'm sure that Mich will be entertained and pleased with this, as I am.

    This is really cool, you've put a lot of work into it and is quite well written. I'm so glad you took the time to try to understand who Micha (Mi to her friends) is. When she reads this, you'll get one of her inimitable replies. Only Mi can write replies the way she can, lol. Thanks for entering the contest. Brida and I appreciate it very much!

    Oh, how wonderful! A lovely poem for a lovely person.
    I'm rarely a fan of this style of poetry, but you kept me entranced the whole way.
    Truly exceptional
