We The People

Missing image

You find it in the cornfields
In our churches  on Sunday
it is in our high school bands
in the song Anchors Away.

It is found on majestic mountains
in words like purple majesty
found in the heart of a soldier
fighting to keep his homeland free

it is found on the front porch
in the colors red, white and blue
there is pride waving in Old Glory
it stand for liberty and justice too.

It is seen in helping strangers
to feel welcome in a strange land
this great  country is all about
giving the weak a helping hand.

We are a melting pot of nations
our differences make us strong
built on the trust we had in God
where we can all feel we belong.

Share your pride with your neighbors
salute our flag as it passes by
our country was built on blood and guts
and many widows with tears in their eyes.

America was built on the pride
of the immigrant's ancestry
their ideals  made this country
the home of the brave and the free

Lovely sentiment. Our country has such a glorious, rich heritage-- your words carry such pride and thankfulness.

In the third stanza, is 'stand' supposed to be 'stands'... or maybe 'it' is supposed to be 'they'? (it stands, they stand).

    Congrats on the silver!!

    I salute you my friend,
    you have written so clear
And may your voice be loud
    so the world can hear

There is pride in our hearts
    if we unite them together
We can be the strongest army
    and we will live forever

We don't have to live in fear
if we open our arms of care
And let the children come on in
and know we will always be there

I think what you have written
    is nothing but the truth
We need to be the role models
for all of our young youths

    I stand in agreement in
    what this poem said
That if we don't act soon
we are all gonna be dead.

Sandy, you have writen a beautiful poem here and I thank you for the way you write. I thank you that you write with such strong conviction and with such a pure heart!! Oh Annie, God bless you for your kind words. I was feeling down a little and you picked my spirit up with your lovely comment. That is the beauty of having such dear friends on here. The simplest words can cheer you when you know they come from a friends heart. And they don't even realize they have cheered you up and made a gloomy day a little brighter Thank you. You have me smiling again. God bless you. Take care, Sandy
