as she sits in her bed
saying "is it getting cold in here?"
she's been saying that for days now, not even knowing what really is happening
she doesn't know yet does she?
so young , yet so soon
her heart has been wilting away for the past year
but she just keeps on fighting no matter what
soon it will turn into dust
and her days will end,
she used to run on sunny days
and stay inside on rainy days
but now all she does is stay in rain nor shine
today, it's her birthday
her final birthday
she blows her 7 candles out
she says "will i still be with you?"
"what about grandma and mom?"
i gently nod my head "soon"
she closes her eyes
takes her last breathe
i step outside
a tear makes its way down my face
"goodbye"
and her heart beats slower, and
slower, and
slower,
gone
