Truth is not what you want to think
Nor is it what you desire
But in the end what truth is
Is what you don't desire.
What do all men like to do
That leads to a bitter end?
All men like to disobey
The Father up in Heav'n
"God did not make me," he said
"God did not make me"
But in the end, when he is dead
He sees what he doesn't believe.
He sees the Man who died for him
He sees Him loud and clear
But STILL denies, (even after he dies),
"THAT man just cannot be!"
"THAT man did not die for me
THAT man did not die for me...
And yet He is the one who is
Longingly staring at me."
"How I KNEW that He was living
While I was on the earth
But instead I claimed that God was dead
While I was on the earth."
"While I was on the earth,
I struggled, had pain, and mirth
But now I see, beyond discrepancy,
That hey, He did come to the earth."
"While I was on the earth,
I KNEW what was right and wrong
But instead I chose my mirth and glee
Over Truth and decency."
"I chose to do what I pleased to do,
And yet, I still survived
However there was something inside
That told me I wasn't right."
"I KNEW that I was doing wrong,
And yet...I didn't know why
Until someone spoke to me
The Truth and not the lie."
"That someone said that I was wrong
By the Ten Commandments,
However, there was hope for me
If I accepted forg'veness."
"Not only forgiveness for what I had done,
but giving God REPENTANCE for the wrong that I had done
So that I may become
One with His Son"
"....And now here I stand
Before the One who had offered up Himself
So that I could be free, and free indeed,
...And be one with His glorious self."
"However I partied and partied away
Until at the end of the day
When I would go home and spend the night
With a whore and a harlot--all in one night."
"...And here I stand
After being impressed
With a dent in my head and a hole in my chest
Not having one thing to say
Because I had refused His name"
"Because I had refused to change
And let Him rule my heart
I now go down to the bitter part
Of the spiritual realm of my heart." *
Author notes
* "...The spiritual realm of my heart"
However your heart and mind
Are "CONDITIONED" while on the earth
That is where you will go
When your spirit leaves the earth

Good
Did you do a whore and a harlot--all in a night? What two women? Or was it the same one that was both a whore and a harlot.
And how did you get a dent in your head and a hole in your chest?
These things must have a personal meaning just to you. But the reader is left adrift. What can these things mean?
Still I like the poem

Good topic, good point. I do think with 'rollin in ecstasy' that some 'cleaning up' might make it more effective.
Nice theme. Keep it up.

I think that the poem is very good thematically. I definately would say that you can make it more concise by taking out a few of the stanzas; it tends to get somewhat redundant, and would have a stronger impact if you cleaned it up a bit. I think that you might want to change the line "That hey, He did come to the earth" just because it seems not to fit the voice of the rest of the poem. I thought that it was a good poem overall, and you do a nice job of having it progress.
