A Path Through The Woods

Soul, where have you been?

Wondering about

in the woods,

by the river,

by the highway,

lost from the path home.

Soul, where have you been?

Hiding away

behind sheets,

in the old house,

in the basement,

eyes closed eyes in fear.

Soul, where have you been?

Following lights

of an Angel,

on the path,

through the woods,

leading the way home.

Soul, where are you going?

To hold a light

for the Angel

on the path

through the woods

finding her way home.

And there you are, (may I call you Jason?) right up there with those who have endured and come through a spiritual crisis. This poem is so deep, so beautiful, so resoundingly coming out of the depths by asking the questions that show you the way out? Marvellous write. Keep that soul in your sights. Joy

Jason...Your writing always leaves me in awe...I feel your words echo within my soul when reading them...You have such a beautiful soul, so loving and deep...I am sure that your Angel has felt great comfort guiding you and accepts your guidance with the love and affection that it deserves...Even though we sometimes fail to see ourselves as beacons to anyone, especially ourselves...There is always a life out there that touches us and we touch them...To reach out and guide someone through a difficult time is the greatest gift anyone could possibly give another person...A voice on the other end of the phone to comfort and soothe...The sound of a heartbeat...The gentle touch of one hand on another...Written words of comfort...Love and compassion...Without all...The castles exist in the air and never reach the ground...Brilliantly written.

This is beautiful, Jason (as always) I love how you've structured this, it really is very remarkable. The repetition of the 'soul, where have you been?', and how it finally changes to 'soul, where are you going?'. I don't know if that's just me or what, but I was absolutely stupified by the brilliance of that, and how you mention the relationship of the path and your soul, I think it's beautiful Incredible work, and never stop writing... I'd cry

    Soul, where have you been?

    Following lights

    of an Angel,

    Soul, where are you going?

Yeah, I admit that I like this poem. Very bleak, but also warm. I love the repetition, the simplicity, and the soul -- that's right -- that is in this piece. It's like you are displaying yourself naked to the world. I got to respect that. And so, I hope to read more from you in the future, and I hope you all the best. Keep being you.

    GOOD

I like the flow of time in this piece. The growth of the soul from innocence to wisdom; from follower to shining light in the darkness.

Lovely. It is worth the featured list... Are you the angel that is led home by your soul?

    My fav part of poem:
    "Hiding away

    behind sheets,

    in the old house,

    in the basement,

    eyes closed eyes in fear
    "

sweet words that mean a lot

    Keep writing.

wow, thats awesome. I love how you asked the same question at the beginning of every stnza, but how every stanza answers the question at a different stage of the journey. this is wonderfully written, with a strange ghostly feel about it. and how the soul begins as little more than a child lost, then ends up leading the Angel home. i adore this.

Wow. This is...wow. I am amazed. Friends can be a blessing. I hope this does help her. I loved this very much. People can take a friendship for granted sometimes. I am guilty of it myself. Sigh. Anyways, I loved this.
