A Friend A Christian A Son

Missing image
I was so blessed this weekend
my heart was filled with love
my family welcomed Charles
God watched from Heaven above.

God's love  brought us together
a loving bond as son and mother
though I have two loving sons
I opened my heart to have another.

To have you as a son feels so right
a young man with Christian beliefs
we both reached out for each other
both having lives of pain and grief.

As we picnicked you played basketball
we went for ice cream sundaes too
we sat and talked of a girl in your heart
and how she meant so very much to you.

Always here to listen if you need me
pick up that amazing little cell phone
God's love shall be never ending
for we love Jesus we are never alone.

I love you as a Christian and son
and as a very dear friend in my life
I want to share all your life's mile stones.
becoming a preacher taking a wife.

You sang and played your guitar for me
so wonderful you brought tears to my eyes
worshiping our dear Lord and  Savior
it was not easy for us say goodbye.

You will always be a part of my family
you now have a place in my heart
though there is many miles between us
His love keeps us together when we are apart.

I look forward to your next visit my son
you will always be a part of this family
I have given you my motherly love
you have given so much more back to me.

nice. i can identify with this. I have two grown daughters, and through them I ended up with two sons (one if really like and think the world of; the other...well, that's another story ) it's nice when your children end up with someone you love and respect.

I also like the mystique tou bring into the poem with the lines:

we both reached out for each other
both having lives of pain and grief

it piques the curiosity of the reader. nice touch.

This is lovely, though I don't completely understand...did you adopt him, or is he just very close to you and like a son? Anyway, I love it. Though I don't know what it's like to be a son or a mother, I know what it's like to love a family member or friend that much. This is so booteeful

Sandy, as always you amaze me with your talent, and it is so wonderful to read a love poem and it not be about the physical side of love, I see through this poem a wonderful story of two friends and the love they share for each other and the Good Lord above. This was truly a blessing to read.

    Beautiful

I was just browsing and came across this and I have to say that this could be one of the most powerful statements of love I have ever read. I think it's beautiful. I don't even know that person at all, but it made me feel the love that you held for that person. That person is very lucky to be loved as much as they are by you.

Sandy, I don't know how to say
how this weekend made me feel
But since I've seen you on that day
your love as a mom for me is so real

The joy that is ringing in me
    that happiness I know
    Brings my heart to reality
that our love will always show

I love you mom, more each day
    more than I can say
But each Night it is for you I pray
that God will guide your way

    Continue walking in His steps
    as you live for Him
And every night that you wept
    remember Jesus is your friend

I love you mom, I hope you understand
    this weekend was the best
And I will always be there to give a hand
and let you take a rest

This poem has touched my heart
    in a very special way
And I know that we will never part
    no matter what people say

Sandy, this poem brought tears to my eyes. Tears of joy. This weekend was an amazing weekend for me and I just wanted to let you know that I am in awe at how wonderful your family is. They accepted me like I was one of their own and that my friend was just Spantastic!! I had so much fun at the picnic, playing basketball, the Ice Cream Sundae's were the best (Except for the cow manure smell, Yuck), and talking to you was the best time And then talking with my dad was fun too. Making him wait.. HAHAHA And singing with you and Jason was amazing. Sandy, you have touched me in a way as well I can't ever express what your love has meant. And then being able to go eat at your Daughters house and fellowship with all of them. Man, and on top of that, I got to go bowling with all yall!! Now that was a blessing all in itself!! And I am just so thankful that this weekend came to be!! It was most definitely awesome!! I will definitely be MORE than happy to come back down!! I can't wait!! I love you Mom and I always will!! Thanks for letting me join your family!! I will see you again soon!! Please take of yourself and have a wonderful and blessed week!! God Bless You!! I love YOu!!

Really sweet but came across as kind of preachy...perhaps that's because of the frequent religious references. However, the religious references highlight the meaning this person holds for you.
