New Roses Will Blossom

Beauty prevailed yesterday
Delicate roses smiled in the sun
Petals of blood, lined with gold
Leaves, musically vibrating in fun.

But a storm today has taken its toll
The charming flowers came under its roll.
Beauty is lost; in the wind they go
Leaves and petals, towards opposite poles.

Yet the storm did lose the battle,
For when it carried a single flower,
It did not notice the unborn seeds
Which got spread far apart.

Tomorrow a new sun will rise
Tomorrow the storm will put down guns.
Many new roses will come to life
Many new leaves will play their turns!

This really carries a wonderful message of hope. There is little that we can do to avoid the natural storms of life, but it helps to have a grasp on the overall picture. You did a great job of giving us an image of that overall picture.

Well done. Thanks for enterring and good luck in the contest.

Thanks so much, teacher. Your comments have helped me begin my day with so much joy. This poem had been written about 4 years back, when I was in school, and it still feels special to me.

This shows the twists and turns of fate and how a battle won doesn't necessarily indicate that the war is won. Your poem speaks of like and perpetuity which is mankind's ultimate aim.

Sometimes we need to read for ourselves that things are going to turn out OK, sometimes we get tired of people telling us... But me I am fine at the moment anyway, but this lifted me even higher..

I like the way that gentleness and beauty have prevailed without fighting. That is the way of it, we lose beauty for a little while in life's assaults, but in a short while it is back with greater abundance. Very nice writing!

Sau, this is very good! Loved ths wy you show the bad side, the hoepeful side and the beautiful side of everyday's battle. Here we see the cycle of of life, going around, rising, falling, working the way out to rise again.
    Excellent!

    Kisses,
    Mari

This could be read as being quite spiritual, whether you intended that or not.
I wrote a poem about a tiny seed battling it's way up through the concrete to grow and this has a similar feel to it. I love it!
