Day's End

The sun falls on down,
and darkness shadows all,
to leave all light to drown,
Day's End has come to fall...

Nocturnals walk the Earth,
as the day slips away,
walk silently through the branches' leaves,
sound lost in darkness' sway...

Day's End ends it all,
of that most dreary day,
Suns' artificial light,
makes some people okay...

out the window, through the glass,
darkness comes, alas...

Author notes

I was inspired to write this poem on a bad day as i sat in my room at my window and watched the sunset, and wondered about the world at night, while everybody slept.

That wa ssuch a powerful way to end the poem. It brought a sense of closure while still allowing the mind to further think and ponder. Very effective. Best of luck in the contest.
