-The Day My Friend Came Home-
There are no words to describe what i feel today.
Normally,I'm filled with gloom,my world is dark and grey.
These "disorders", or my barrage of meds, for me it's all a blur,
And thus it seems so alien from this chaos to defer.
For many have said, life does change,it's different from day to day.
Powerful words and all to true, even in my dismay.
For all at once the clouds rolled back,as i looked eastward across the hill,
I could not believe my very eyes and for a moment time stood still.
Like Gandolf's horse,'Shadowfax',running through the field,
I saw his truck approach my home as gloom began to yield.
The closer he got the bigger the smile did spread across my face,
The feeling - indescribable, my heart began to race.
For in my world, you must understand,VERY few get in,
The walls are thick, the gates are sealed and scrutiny never thin.
There are a lack of such great humans,as the man of whom i speak,
That trusted and bestowed on me a gift that's so unique.
The gift was, quite simply put,a chance to prove my worth.
Never have i betrayed that gift, nor would i while on this earth.
So as you may imagine,as i saw him pull in the drive,
Happiness was bombarding me, it's been long since i felt so alive.
We sat and talked for hours, our conversation did weave and roam,
But i will always cherish the way i felt, the day my friend came home.
