The bald eagle no longer flies in a virgin sky,
the pollution of his domain has been a sad goodbye,
brought back from near extinction caused by man,
the bald eagle thrives again in the open woodlands.
Spreading his wings soaring to places man never knew,
the bald eagle glides into the vast open skies of blue,
the wind currents help carry him swiftly through the air,
away from all mankind where he has no one to fear.
The eyes of the eagle are piercing and quite keen,
any slight movement on the ground is easily seen,
his prey can't elude him they don't stand a chance,
he keeps his sights on them from that first glance,
Between air pollution such as dense smog and acid rain,
mankind has slowly begun polluting the eagles domain,
how sad it would be if the bald eagle ever ceased to fly,
and was no longer seen gliding through our majestic sky.
The eagle is more then a bird that soars and glides,
it is a symbol and a source for our country's pride.
so keep flying and soaring for the world to see,
our great bald eagle, the symbol for our Democracy.

I have the priviledge of seeing bald eagles in my part of Texas on a regular basis. They come here to nest and mate. Although I have had hundreds of sightings, I still feel excited when I watch one of these grand birds. Great poetic tribute.
