I hold you
in my hands,
and I pray
for God
to take away
your pain...
The light in
your eyes
are dimming,
and I know then
that I am
losing you...
You can't be
with me
forever,
but at least
now I know
you are going
somewhere better...
Perhaps,
one time
we will
meet again.
I only pray
that you
remember even
the tiniest
bit of me...
in my hands,
and I pray
for God
to take away
your pain...
The light in
your eyes
are dimming,
and I know then
that I am
losing you...
You can't be
with me
forever,
but at least
now I know
you are going
somewhere better...
Perhaps,
one time
we will
meet again.
I only pray
that you
remember even
the tiniest
bit of me...

i agree with chuckymangosoup. I know that pets have souls. I have three dogs and four cats and they are more loyal than most people I know. My dog that is the most special to me has heard all my problems etc etc and I'm sure she is listening. I think your poem does a beautiful job of showing how you yourself value animals/pets and it is very touching =)

Well, have you seen Harry Potter 3? Even though that is fiction, you could live without your soul prolly, but you would be a mindless it that has no reason to exist. God gave us the soul as a life force, like a power, thats what I believe. If the pets didn't have a soul, they wouldn't be able to be happy to see us and love us back. They couldn't move or think or do anything without their soul. So I believe that they have a soul. I love my pets and they are very smart, Smarter than most people I know, but then again. I am waiting to find smart people. I have found you and several others this last year

wah! sorry to hear about your pets
i get really attached to my pets because i really find it so easy to love them...
and i too have this "belief" thing... that a person's soul sleeps when the "person dies"... and, well, we all meet each other again in that eternal dream
haha... i heard from some people that animals don't have souls. i refuse to believe that
i think they too are waiting for us to join them in that eternal dream

I'm so sorry!!! My hamster and budgie aka parakeet died 2 weeks ago. They died the day after the other, i mean, like, Lemon, the budgie, died on one day and then the next day, Finnigan, my hamster died. I miss him and her a lot. I know how you feel. I cry thinking about death because who ever died isn't with us, but their only alseep, they'll wake up some day. Keep up the good work!!!

Though the 'god' and prayer part got to me its your ideas not mine , this was good , its a good thing to write for a dead pet even if some of them are truely useless to me , good poem
