Mother Moon and Father Sun

Missing image
by ~Gregg Rowe~

Mother
Moon and
Father
Sun watch

over me when
I am sleeping --
cradle rocks to
and fro -- Father

Time will slip away if,
not for Mother Nature --
who will watch me mature:
Growing boy -- reach manhood

Living Peter Pan Syndrome, I
swim in drowning dreams and open
tear blood-stained hearts crying yester-
years of hurtful pain that aged me --

Mother Nature guards my maturity,
Father Time ticks precious seconds away.
Father Sun exhausts my days playfully,
Mother Moon kisses me, cradling nightly.

Trochiac meters are meters that are long/short long/short and then the number before it tells how may feet in the line; SO, mono (means one) so the first line will be two syllalbes (one word or two short words) with the first accent being long then short. As each stanza progesses, a foot is added to the lines until we reach the pentamenter line (meaning five feet, ten syllalbes).

This is nicely done! I'm unfamiliar with trochaic meters, so I can't comment on how well you did them (though your rhythm sounds wonderful to me!), but your subject is wonderful. I love how you have mother moon/nature and father sun/time & the repetition of mother/father throughout the poem. Excellent work~
