Knowing Jesus

I know of your great and mighty power.
I've read how you created heaven and earth.
Every tree, every blade of grass, every flower.

I see your majesty in the mountains you made.
I feel your gentleness in a cool summer breeze.
I hear your rhythm where waterfalls cascade.

I taste your goodness in the fruit I chew.
I smell your sweetness as spring begins to bloom.
I know all about you, but I don't know you.

I know your laws, decrees, and commands
Which tell me what I should and should not do.
I seek to obey everyone of your list of demands.

I know you give me much more than I deserve.
I know you put others in my life who have greater needs.
I know you ask me to go beyond myself and serve.

I've read your stories, poetry, and biography too.
I've read how you taught, loved and obeyed.
I know all about you, but I don't know you.

My eyes see your creation.
My skin feels your touch.
My nose smells your aroma.
My ears hear your music.
My mouth tastes your goodness.

My hands do your tasks..
My feet walk your path.
My mind understands.
My intellect knows.
My heart examines your life.

I know all about you, but I don't know you.

I need to see you face to face.
I need to understand your grace.
I need to be made complete and whole.
I need to feel your love in my soul.

well melphleg... it seems as if you are strong and grounded and correct in your beliefs about the concept of God and who he is to you. so... aside from the discussions that have stemmed from your poem i would encoourage you to just go with what you know and stay strong in your own beliefs... again this is a beautiful poem and again just keep the faith and keep on hoping, you will see Gods face, because he will reveal himself to you in ways you never thought possible, if you just believe.

    God Bless!

hello, read your comment on my comment and what i have to say is this - the trinity is not found in the bible. You won't find the word trinity in the New Testament. Why? Because,"The term 'Trinity'is not found in Scripture...The invention of the term is ascribed to Tertullian."(Systematic Theology,Augustus Hopkins Strong,p.304 ."The Catholic Church began to formulate its doctrine of the Trinity in the fourth century. The Council of Nicea declared the Son to be co-essential with the father(325 A.D.),while the council of Constantinople(381 A.D) asserted the deity of the Holy Spirit, though not with the same precision."(Systematic Theology p.82-83).therefore Christ and his apostles had nothing to do with the so called holy trinity. You mentioned Matt 28:19,in that verse you cannot read that Christ and the Holy Spirit are God.What is said there is that the disciples will be baptized in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit.it did not say that the three are the one God.i hope that these discussions would remain objective and intellectual.i do not mean to hurt anyone. i respect all sort of beliefs.i am merely stating mine and what i know.have a good life.good day

well, good day to all of you too. There is nothing in John 1:10-11,that states Jesus Christ is God.And to make things clear,i am very much a Christian too!the subject is knowing Jesus, right?knowing him and loving him entails knowing his teachings.Jesus never preached that he was God.in fact he explicitly said in John 8:40 NIV "As it is you are determined to kill me, a MAN who has told you the truth that I heard from God.Even his apostles testified that Jesus Christ was a man.In I Timothy 2:5 it says that " For there is one God and one mediator between God and men,the Man Christ Jesus. If Christ himself taught that he was a man,who are we to say otherwise?

You need to read the Gospel of John Chapter 1.

(John 1:10 NAS He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.

(John 1:11 NAS He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.

This is a good poem. really good. Um not to undermine the comment of momenterylapse, but it seems as if they do not have a full concept of the holy trinity. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one. and the purpose of Lk.24:38-39 was not to say otherwise it was to prove to the disciples that he had risen and not as a "ghost" or spirit but that he was ressurected in the flesh. As a matter of fact, there are scriptures that say that the three are one... look at Matt 28:19 or even better 1Cor: 12:4-6. Not to undermine momentarylapse's comment, but just to make sure that the facts are straight on the issue.
Again I say this is a great poem. Keep up the good work.

this is a lovely poem and a beautiful prayer for what comes from your heart is what God hears not the words of your mouth nor the touch of your pen. But may each word you speak and pen forever be your soul and a reflection of what is in your heart

    awesome

nice! oh and what momentary lapse is not correct. all the trinity participated in creation. God could not have created Jesus coz Jesus is God and that would mean God would have had to create Himself which He most certainly did not. And Jesus had to limit Himself when He came as a human. I heard it compared to Michael Jordan being in an obese kid'd body how restrained he'd be and it's way more strict with Jesus in a human body. Gosh. WHY DOES NO ONE LISTEN TO THE CHRISTIANS??? Anyway I loved the poem. I thought it was great and I can totally relate to it. Sometimes God feels so far and other so close to me it's weird. But I know He loves me. And He loves you to so keep on rockin!!!

fist off, jesus did not create heaven and earth.God did.infact, jesus was himself just created by God.Jesus is not God.He is holy,he is our Lord,he is the mediator between God and man,he did not sin,he performed miracles but he is not God.Jesus said so himself in Lk 24:38-39.He proved that He is not a spirit or God but a man with flesh and bones, the same man they knew before he died and was ressurected.well, now that i've gotten that out, hope you won't take it the wrong way.you seem like a good person,so go on with your journey and try to know more about Jesus.nice poem.
