Where Did It Start?

The early stories of the Bible
Were handed down to Moses, they say
Was there really a Moses
Who gave him the stories he copied
Are they true

Who was there to observe creation
Do you really believe in the serpent
Or Jonah inside a whale
David and Goliath, a colorful pair

Are you aware that none of the books in the Bible
Are truly authenticated
"Luke" is a fairy tale
"Acts" more quetionioned than most
"Revelations" no one can understand
'Cause its author(s) was simply insane

Much of the Bible is myth
Yes there is some truth
Use the truth you can prove
Most of the Bible has no relevance
To your day to day way of life

Author notes

Before you accept the Bible, it is wise to consider how it came into existance.  Where the information comes, and how accurate it may be.  Frankly, it is a book, and not a great one.  Aspasia

I don't know if people have souls, but we seem to have something. God is obvious.

How many times have you read it? How much study have you done? While I was a minister, I read it through in four English translations. Many more times through the New Testament. I was trying to memorize the NT, and studied the origin of the Bible and the purpose of its books. Based on this and common sense, I stated what I have. I believe this qualifies me under your conditions.

Before you discredit it, it would be wise to read it. Any opinion that is held must be held with proof. You cannot, cannot, (I can't emphasize this enough!) cannot just make blanket statements like that and expect people to swallow them! Either do your research and pontificate intelligently, or don't pontificate. It's bad form.

lol, I have to chuckle at elbrycen's comments. I like this little poem, and for the most part, agree with it. There is much wisdom in the bible, some of which can be useful to us today. However, it is not the pentultimate "book" it has been handed down to be.
    Nice little poem...

Why would you think my mind is not open?

oh, but it does have relevance! it has just been skewed by misinterpretations and people using its wisdom to fit an agenda. "revelations", for example, is a poem. it is filled with metaphor, and looking at the culture of the time, it all really does make sense. the whole bible does, if you look at it with an open mind seeking truth, as opposed to joining the massive amounts of americans who mereley believe what they are told by others about the bible with no reasons to back it up.
