You can sometimes find a true friend
By searching long and hard;
False friends are scattered everywhere,
Like leaves in your front yard.
The worst ones are like vampires,
Sucking money and not blood.
They say it's for your own good,
And stomp you in the mud.
They borrow this, and borrow that,
But nothing is returned.
They say that they've been helpful
For the lesson that you've learned.
I guess there was a reason
Such people came to be:
But were there a hunting license,
The darned thing should be free.

Thanks for the Gold ...
and congratulations to the other trophy winners. -
I do like the humor
And I've been tempted MORE than once to take that approach. That's one of the reasons I spend my spare time as a Civil War reenactor. I can shoot people and not get arrested. Best of luck in the contest!
This is a good write!

...it isn't free though
-
two words...CAR SALESMAN! by the way...they do require a license, in Texas at least

This is a nice poem. It made me chuckle. I know all too well these types of friends. specially the ones "The worst ones are like vampires,Sucking money and not blood. They say it's for your own good, And stomp you in the mud" I hate people like this. I did say no profanity..so if you could please edit the "da**" in the last line just for the duration of the contest it would be much appreciated. Good luck in my contest!
