Unhindered
I never expected to see the dream
That played across your eyes when I met you.
There was a hope in your words, just a gleam
Nascent possibilities, something new.
Playing across your eyes when I met you
An idea, a belief in a moment’s light.
Nascent possibilities, something new
Painted on a child’s canvas, blue and bright
An idea, a belief in a moment’s light
Illuminating the gift of who you are
Painted on a child’s canvas, blue and bright
The colors of an artist who came so far.
And then you fell, and then you flew
Illuminating the gift of who you are
Framed ideas in wooden contradictions
Fences never built, cuts that always scar
Wanting silk sutured,
black stitched incisions
Frames ideas in wooden contradictions
Deny, reality that lives within
Wanting silk sutured,
black stitched incisions
Watchtowers of the fasting and shriven
Deny reality that lives within
Captured innocence, what can never be
Watchtowers of the fasting and shriven
To create a new unhindered reality
Captured innocence, what can never be
Exposed to the cruel intentions played
To create a new unhindered reality
And never accept the death of a dream
Author notes
I tried to follow the structure and form of a Pantoum. I played with it a little. I'm not sure about the message. I think that this is more an excercise in word play. I also tried to keep to five feet a line. (pentameter)
