An Angel For Daddy
God, send a special angel please,
to stay right by my daddy's side.
So when pain's waves come crashing in,
he can roll right over the tide.
You rod and staff, they comfort us,
as death's shadow we pass by.
We do not stay entrapped by death,
but reach our home beyond the sky.
As he passes through death's valley,
help him know he is not alone.
But, is carried by the angels,
to appear before Your throne.
Dear Lord, he taught me right from wrong,
and tried to keep me from all sin.
So, I pray that in your judgement,
A special crown for this he'll win.
In Jesus' name, Amen

Author notes
My father is dying from lung cancer. While I am praying for a recovery, as he just grows weaker and weaker, I am also praying for comfort in his death, if this is his time to go.
All prayers for him are greatly appreciated. God bless.

This is beautiful, and I really have no words for it. Poetically it flows perfectly and rhymes without strain. The heartbreak of loss and the hope that loss and separation are not forever are beautifully expressed, but most of all there is the unselfish prayer for aid to someone loved very much. I'm so glad we have that hope in Jesus.

Heartfelt Poem
My heart goes out to you. My mom died of bone cancer and it was as painful to watch as the pain she suffered. My prayers will be with you and your dad. God bless you and your family. This was a beautiful and heartfelt poem Take care, Sandy

Sam, I cannot thank you enough for your sweet prayer. I am sorry that you lost your daddy too. This has just got to be one of the hardest things that we ever have to go through, saying goodbye to our loved ones. At least we have the assurance that it is not forever. Honestly, I don't know how unbelievers bare it. Thank you so much and God Bless YOU! Hugs, Penny

I know the pain that you are feeling. I lost my daddy in November of 2001. It is still hard to believe he is gone. I miss talking to him on the phone, and hearing him call me his"sweet sam" I join with you in prayer for your father.
Dear God, you know that your child is sick and in pain. If it is his time to go Home to You, please ease his pain and make the journey easy. I know You have the power to heal him completely, and if it be Your Desire to do so, then I pray You do. I pray more for his soul Lord. Make sure he is ready to meet You Lord, and if he isn't send someone to pray him through the sinners prayer. I pray that you comfort all his loved one, even his daughter who is crying out in prayer to You to watch over her daddy. In Jesus Name I pray...Amen.
Thank you for sharing this with us in this contest.'

This was a precious, beautiful poem from a daughter who loves and honors her father. I agree with you. I pray that he'll be comforted and without pain.I pray that all your moments together will turn into wonderful memories that you can reflect back on. I also pray for your Mom. That the Lord would reinforce His strength in her and that she herself will be surprised at how strong she is. Bless you, vj
