Dreams of the Lavender Fairy

Missing image
Drops of happiness, encased in dew,
Fall in the magic forest's glade,
And fairies gather them each night
For they are those, of which dreams are made

In baskets made of gossamer thread
They store them in the magic dell,
It's there the fairy of all the dreams
Weaves in them, a magic spell.

Then lavender fairy takes each one,
And flies on moonbeams to your room,
She'll drop them carefully in your eyes,
To Chase away life's darkest gloom.

So tonight before you sleep,
Watch the moonbeams in the sky,
Then close your eyes and make a wish,
That the Lavender fairy, to you will fly.

    STUNNING!

This is STUNNING, Di! The imagery in this is so vivid and astounding! I love your fantasy writes! The first stanza (especially the first two lines) is perfection, and sets the scene for the body of the poem perfectly. Your ryhme scheme is flawless, as is the flow. Cadence is wonderful, too. My fav, however, is:

Then lavender fairy takes each one,
And flies on moonbeams to your room,
She'll drop them carefully in your eyes,
To Chase away life's darkest gloom.

This stanza creates such a wonderful image in the reader's mind. I have a soft spot for poetry about fairies, gnomes and the like, and you have truly done it justice with this peice. This was truly a pleasure to read. Excellent write, Di!!

I really enjoyed reading this poem as it gives all that read it a great positive outlook to look forward to. I especially like the detail you included in the stanza:
In baskets made of gossamer thread
they store them in a magic dell.
It's there the fairy of all dreams
weaves in them a magic spell.
I can just see a dell full of fairies all weaving spells to be delivered. I liked the rhyming and description throughout this poem. Great work and hope to read some more of your work soon.

I know a bank where the wild tyme blows where ox slips and the nodding violet grows, there lies Titania some time of the night, lulled in these slumbers with dances and delight, there the snake throws her enamel skin ,weed wide enough to wrap a fairy in. or something like that, thanks a million hugs Di

I think I noticed a slight allusion to Shakespeare, possibly not deliberate, it made me think of the Tempest, Prosperos 'our revels now are ended' speech and the words 'we are the stuff which dreams are made on' and these dew drops you mention are the same lol!!I'v enoticed you like faeries and thats great, their quite a symbol of innocence mostly and its very sweet. Great use of language and it really is calming once more. and I just realised another shakespeare thingy, it could also be linked with Mercutio's Queen Mab speech and to be fair most of 'A Midsummer nights dream' ah you got to love dear William haven't you lol!!

oh my word, what a gorgeous image.. the fairies and the moon beams. Its just so pure and innocent. I wish we all had some drops of happines, but i think this poem might be one of them as i am sitting with a hge smile on my face.. .. all because ofthe image this poem has created in my mind.

Once again you give us a masterpiece to enjoy and fawn over, becuase thats all we can do as you never make a mistake to be ciriticised!!!! Your rhyming in this piece was very good it did not feel forced once and had suvh a good rhytym and flow.

Great write and always keep it up!!

The picture is almost...almost..as beautiful as your words. This is such a better mental picture than that of the "sandman" "Drops of happiness, encased in dew..." That stanza is my favorite. to think that dreams are made of that is beautiful. You use such breath-takingly beautiful metaphors. Wonderful write!

    Loveley poem

Its nice to be taken in such a sweet way from reality to fantasy! I loved the magical images that swept through the poem and felt this was a definite "feel good" poem! If I may be so bold as to make one small comment, I felt the very last line was a little "forced? This is just a minor point but perhaps one you may or may not want to look at? Overall, lovely poem and enjoyed it thoroughly, all the best Paul
