that you and I
belong together,
our smiles are one
as their words say…
Our hearts
are both journeying
and seeking each of
their other half. Fate
could not be
this sadistic to
let two missing pieces
look for the one thing
that will make them whole,
and all the while
it so happens
that what they seek
is right in front of them
-that is, IF
we are meant to be.
You and I
are merged
only by this
thin yet strong
line called friendship.
Platonic love
is good enough –
I do not wish
to lose you.
It is a selfish
thing, this emotion
called love… a
self destructive
dance that
may reap fruits
more beautiful
than its seeds.

Such a great poem, wonderful. You manage to put a lot of feeling in it, and it's so true. Great work. You always manage to have sweet things, but... it's really sad that this is true.

Easy to follow, how love is an obvious feeling. Deep as it can be, but not necessarily the one of good choice. Yet the optimistic view in the last lines:
a self destructive/ dance that/ may reap fruits/ more beautiful
than its seeds.
I feel one would have to know love to understand these words, whether reciprocated or not? You have my applause, write on poetic scholar! -

Emotional, strikingly touching, beautifully written, different from most love poems I've read and written. The difference is the key, and the way fate was intangled within the poem, clever. I enjoyed the read, and must applaud this poem for the sincerity, and the possible truth involved within, how fate and love are entangled in this web of life, and how a person that could be our fateful one is already held to us by a thin string called friendship. It was an excellent piece. -
Wonderful poem. I like the way you describe LOVE as being selfish, for it sometimes can be. I am with xeroabyss that LOVE, even if it can be selfish, it can make sacrifices, for only when it is TRUE that it knows how to endure the pains of being unreciprocated.
Some of us loves a person so much but we are not loved in return, despite that, we are willing to be happy for them and accept only the friendship being offered.
