Another disappearing act;
you vanished unseen again
(unnoticed) from the party
and again are seen no more.
Are you cleaning the bone
of still another boy toy?
clandestining with a new girl friend?
maybe neither or both?
Meanwhile I cast my net
and yet again I land only you,
with your artful amnesiac's
glibnesses and fecklessnesses.
I used to think I feared you
or that you thought me another toy
or that you'd fold yourself
in the cloak of your No-Man's-Land.
I wait without waiting,
I make time stop inside my brain,
I'm careful what I wish for,
and there you are again!
Author notes
I really don't know what to say about this poem; I wrote it long after the fact as idle musement
