Beauty Lies In the Eye of the Beholder

How is it that
      Such a Precious thing
Can come from Something so Lowly?

       From such Sin was Born
     Such a Lovely Child
           So Innocent, Pure.

    Surely God
        Has Blessed her and I
 Took Pity upon our Souls.

He has Crafted Love from Hate
Drawn Calm from Chaos
   Brought Light from Darkness.

     She is her Father's Daughter
   On her Surface only,
And in her Heart lies Beauty.

        My Morianna...
                My Black Gift.

Author notes

I wrote this for the prologue a Lord of the Rings fan fiction story (I haven't finished it), with the same title. It is the thoughts of a mother for her child, whom she concieved by rape.
I changed it so it could be applied to more than one situation, but kept the last line, because that was important to me. 'Mori' means black, 'anna' means gift in Quenya (Elvish).
The fic will soon be posted by
fanfiction.net/~theelvensistersinlaw , if I have somehow intrigued you.
Thankyou so much for reading this.

This was a great poem, your words were written with perfect. It flowed beautifully. From your words I got quite a vivid image of this, such a horrible image to see, but yet so amazingly created. Wonderful job! I loved this, it was so great. Thank you for entering, you did a fantastic job. Good luck!

    Perfect.

I was a rape victim myself, concieved but never gave birth (I lost the child)...but I must say, there is a sense of true beauty in this, a sense of feeling and heart.
The way I read it made it flawless in my eyes, and I shall hold it close to my heart.
Thank you for sharing. How could I not applaud this work!?!

You have such beautiful insight, thankyou very very much for your comment. What you say is very true, and I wish all people could actually think that way. We all know it is true, and we are all told it over and over again, but few of us take it to heart. Again, thankyou for your beautiful comment.

This is a delicate, beautiful write which could extend to all people. I think that society has been ruined by the media's cosmopolitan views which relay to people (especially young women) that you have to be a certain size, height, and color to be considered beautiful. I think that it's the attitude that makes a person beautiful--not necessarily aesthetics. I think it's inane that people judge by outer looks alone anyway. I also think that children are precious and should be treated as such. Yes, it is the responsibility of both parents to take care of themselves before conception and the mother to nourish the child properly in utero. But...even if a person is not flawless on the outside, they could possess a heart of gold, and that's what would truly make them beautiful.

    Many blessings,

    Raven Aurora

    Hooray For You!

HEY! Our fanfiction account is posted on here!!!...Cool. I'm tired of not getting any more reviews! Very nice job! By the way, is this the story that you wanted to write that you told me about but never got around to ACTUALLY writing?.........That didn't make much sense, did it?

Funny, but I "knew" that this referred to a child who was the product of rape. Amazing how you were able to so perfectly convey that underlying "story" in such a concise write....particularly in a piece that is meant as a prologue bit. Wonderfully done, in my opinion.
