Seven Lanterns for My Angel

Missing image
by ~Gregg Rowe~

Dedicated to my angel, Gail
written on the day she was diagnosed with terminal cancer

I
will hold
you up and
you will hug me
back:

It's
a sad
day -- today!
given a year --
death!

Our
souls meet
silently --
speak about two
hearts.

But
your eyes:
blue-green shine --
as my teardrop
falls:

I
water
our love, plant
weeping willows:
cry!

We
will go
on as if
nothing happens --
live!

You
will hold
me up and
I will hug you
back.

Author notes

Lanturne- small poem shaped like a lanturne in this form. 1, 2, 3, 4, 1 syllables. In that order. And they must be centered.

Thank you CarterTachikawa for recently hosting a contest and allowing me to venture out of my box and try this form.  (It was my first lanterne and I ended up winning the gold trophy).  Today we recieved some sad news and I needed to let it out.

Merci -- mon ami,
Gregg

Dear Gregg, I'm sorry you have received bad news, it always hurts when you lose someone you care about, even though we know they're in a better place now, I have never tried this style, but it looks interesting. Well done my Canadian Brother Love~Joan

Gregg my friend, this is a truly moving write. I couldn't write this form of poetry though if my life depended on it. lol This is so sad, yet so inspirational. Your background and your graphic just added to the piece. My thoughts are with you. Be Well and Be Blessed.

    Dear Gregg,
I don't know what your bad new has been but offer my condolences. As usual, the blows of Fate serve to bring gems from your pen and these seven connected lanturnes are no exception. Good luck in the contest Buddy, and I'm very sorry.
Applause and best wishes as always, Hugh.
PS: Oh! I see it isn't a contest! Your Author's comment fooled me!

The form is again new to me, but the words are as beautiful as I would expect you to pen. May peace find it's way to your heart, sorry for the bad news.

    Blessed be

    excellent

Seven is symbolic of perfection and your seven lanterns are so beautiful and moving and deeply sad. The graphic is stunning. Did you create that? God bless you my friend.

    Beautiful

I liked the way you put this together and I definetly liked the graphics and the reference to the weeping willows added just the right touch. Simply beautiful.

I'm not big on the form poetry (to many rules for me) but the lanturne form is one of the best. Your thoughts flow very well and stay true to form through out. That's hard for some to do when writing an emotion filled piece. You've mastered it well.

This is a very nice write. I've never heard of Lanturne (is it?? lol) before, so it's cool to finally know about it, so I can try something new. Thanks for sharing!

    Unique display... captivating... brava!!!

This is beautifully displayed enhancing the text there for others to grasp the heart-felt axioms like atoms exploding... or a burst of fireworks in the sky... as each eloquent stanza embraces the depth of soul ... exquisite... brava Wishing you much success in all of your future endeavors

Not being a fan of this form (couldn't rightly say why) the essence you depict is quite nice.

The exclamations detract from it (for me) but word choice is to each their own...

Overall I liked it, and had to read twice more...
    Not bad at all.

What a beautiful tribute to, and depiction of love I'm not sure why, but I've always found it difficult to write a good Lanturne, and so I can appreciate the work going into this even moreso. Great work, and never stop writing
