A Love Denied

Heat up
and beat the words out of my heart
constantly lost
in dreams of the way it could've been
tomorrow's not so pretty
as yesterday was
when we were in love
and it's my fault
my jealous heart
crumbling and bitter
from all the ones before you
there was nothing that could be done
neither you
nor I
could have stopped the
machinations of fate
if not in this life's today, tomorrow, yesterday
then perhaps the next
the part of me
that belongs to you
will sit around and wait for it
the absolute completion
that in this life we're denied

Author notes

I suppose I should say which option I'm choosing, though it does seem a bit obvious. Option number 1.

Oh, and, because I'm a dumbass and forgot earlier (after I had read through the rules twice):  gleekers will rule the world.

This is a wonderful poem and very sad. I liked the message in it and the way you wrote it made me keep reading. However, I must ask you to re-read the rules and add the required quote to your comments box. Thanks.

    Brilliant.

Wow, this is one terrific piece. The flow and telling is so engrossing and filled with such emotion that a lot of us can relate to... Just beautiful throughout its sadness. And still, after reading I just get the urge to read it again. Gripping poem, it leaves an impact on the heart.
