Rape My Ass With Your Shoe

Missing image
Americans, though rich beyond belief,
Surprisingly, are one of the most uneducated,
and irresponsible cultures on the planet.
Sadly, you can't tell them that
Because emotionally they're immature
Hypocritical, and afraid of change
This is a pattern not unusual throughout
history, and in fact, we already know what
Happens next: We sell our poor into slavery,
inbreed ourselves to extinction,
(Blame our parents, or the Devil)
and burn it all to the ground.

Not what I was expecting when I made a contest about rape. I guess...this could be seen as a different take on it. I really didn't specify, did I?

Thank you for entering. It was a quiet relief from all the sadness and depression of all the other entries.

hehehe... . I actually liked this poem! I saw the poems title and thought, "Uh oh..." but you really turned my opinion around! By the way, I actually am American, but I can see what you mean when you call us rich and emotionally immature (even though we are definately NOT all like that). Thanks for the interesting poem, it really made my day!

    P.S
You might want to think about changing the title.....

I actually like this piece, although I don't agree that all Americans are as you claim. Perhaps 60% of them, but certainly not all. I enjoyed listening to the rants of the people above, however. I don't agree with everything that Sonia says, for instance, but she has got a point with most of it. Anyway, to the point: this is a contest about opposing genocide. You have totally missed the point. Good job on the poem anyway.

Post script : I'm not aware of what kind of poetry you enjoy, but if it includes social commentary , my bloke posts on here, Alan. He wrote a piece called 'Neo Conned' - a similar theme to your piece above. Not being presumptuous - I appreciate how busy real poets are on here - but if you ever have some spare time, feel free.

As a brit I detest bush and his international policies. As a brit, I also detest Blair and HIS international policies.

I have a sense of respect for anti american americans - or those that can see beyond the media/jesus/conservative epidemic, the intelligent minority who bother to do their homework in relation to the wankstains ( eg : Mr Rumsfeld/ Mr Wolfowizt - ), who read Mr Chomsky, and take the time to actually enlighten themselves on issues such as the global elite - their mass manipulation, and the impact / power these neo conservative dickheads have on the world in which we live.

I detest western politics and all its stands for ( in respect of those who manipulate the populus and distort the facts for their own benefit ). Whats more sickening is the sheer volume of people who actually believe all the crap they are fed.

Thats what I took from your poem anyway. Capitalism is a social disease in more ways than one - and you highlight this so effectively. People fighting to get to the 'top' when perhaps there is none. Measuring their success as human beings based on material wealth. The big american dream - shit on whoever you need to in your quest for fame and fortune.

I think poetry can be measured by the level of emotion it evokes - this conjured up images of someone ( potentially me ) ripping out bushes eyeballs. Or paying for his lobotomy or something similar. Every individual can make a difference if they THINK and aspire to affect change - educated anarchy of sorts. This brought that fact home.

    Good stuff .

Now what makes this interesting is the anger, humour and the fact it has been written so honestly by an American. I have never disliked Americans. How could one ever say such a sweeping statement for while America produces Ronald Reagan, Martha Stewart, Dan Quayle, a host of bible quoting thumpers who you wouldn’t follow into the toilet much less trusting their word on eternal salvation, it has also produced some of the greatest humanity has to offer. Quite frankly they will still be playing Ray Charles singing “Georgia” long after George Bush is seen as one of the greatest pricks of all time. So that, bad example, I was just playing Ray Charles thinking what a prick George Bush , so I suppose that moment has past.

What I really wanted to say about this piece is the truth that American’s see what they want to see. They are not very good at stepping outside and looking in. They neither have to nor want to so they don’t. They don’t see how their being subjected to one long marketing campaign. Selling Americans a burger from McDonalds differs very little to how they are sold a war. Except in this case the only fries American troops are getting are from uranium-depleted bombs. The heart of the problem is not that Americans are bas people for they are not. It is not that they are ignorant for they are not. It is that they are self-cantered. They are obsessed by self and improvement which drives them to ridiculous lengths to seek that ultimate truth. That edge. That anything that is going to somehow make them better. And there is nothing wrong with wanting to improve. It only becomes a problem when taken collectively it crushes other cultures, it swamps markets and alters the basic fibre of societies in a way the average American would not tolerate for an moment having everything they know and love suddenly turned upside down. And this is what Americans cannot really grasp. Not everybody wants to be American. We may wish to be able to sing a song like Ray Charles but we want to sing our own song .

This is a stunning, short sharp knee in the orchestra stalls that should get people wondering. The fact is that most people on the right would say it was bullshit. Most on the left would say it was not strong enough. And those left in the middle knows that the truth of the matter is way more problematic. While America treats war like a football game, while they treat conquest as something to prize and while all place aggressive fundamentalism above basic humanity, Americans for all they gain will never gain what they truly seek. They will never be truly loved as many would believe that no matter what America does there will always be some ulterior, self serving motive behind their largess. Individual Americans are loved, most Americans are liked and nearly all Americans it seems do not understand those outside America. This piece sums it up very well.

The very best person you will meet in life is both interesting and interested. Most Americans are interesting, how interested they are in the rights and beliefs of others will dictate how valued they are.

    Great piece

    David

Loved the title? It's with a raised eyebrow that I clicked on it. Though I will say that it played out more like a straight rant, then prose. But whatever gives you relief.

Well, I'm not sure what to think here. The first three lines are GOOD and who could disagree but after that it seems to fade away. At the risk of being seen to promote my own humble works, you might find some of my virulent anti-American imperialism rants of interest. I forgot to say the title was great but the text didn't live up to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interestingly I was reading something yesterday about Sum41 going to the Congo. The drummer commented about the fact that all of the people over there are positive. Children are being raped, people are in midst of turmoil and destruction without resources, without homes, food , yet they remain positive while North Americans have everything at their fingertips and whine bitterly about how bad their lives are.
    Still glad I'm Canuck.
