Don't Play Me A Love Song With A Hip Hop Beat

Missing image
I walked in the door,
I had a hard day at work,
the rap music was blasting.
calling someone a jerk.

What happened to music,
it use to be cool,
now they tell stories,
of shootings in school.

Let's hear a love song,
one that's real sweet,
don't play a love song.
with a hip hop beat.

Play me a rock song,
sung by the "King",
he had a great voice,
boy he could sing.

bring back the songs,
that made my eyes tear,
many songs of today,
it's cursing I hear.

Music makes me happy,
listening should be fun,
I don't want a gangster,
talking sex,drugs,or guns.

Play an oldies but goodies,
from the fifty's long ago,
the Beatles songs are great,
or a ballad sung real low.

Most young people today,
think their music is cool,
right now they're thinking,
what's with this old fool!

    I like your version better.

I agree and once again at the flea market a rap song was playing. It was highly offensive to the black vendors in the wording that a black rapper sang. That music was cut off, not the way to impress anyone. You did very good on this one.

    Excellent

Sandy, you don't know how much I love you for writing this!! I seriously hold the mainstream music industry is dead these days. No REAL song in Billboards top 5, can you believe? Only stupid rants sparsed with slangs!

I really, really, really love this poem. The stupid rap stars couldn't write one stanza like this without breaking into tears! I'm putting the link in a hate-rap thread in a music group here I'm in.
All the best for the contest.

    Cheers,
    Mandy

    LOL

Everyone of my friends look at my CD collection and think... "is she for real?" Cos rarely do you see any music like that. When I am at work, I have all the old music on, well used to when I was on day shift... And I knew all the words to the songs LOL

I love music but sometimes the up to date stuff gets right on my tripe

    Good write

    Natalia
