My First Miracle

I wake with a feeling I've never felt before.
This must be the day so we head for the door.
Your daddy's a nervous wreck, as a cringe from the pain.
And I think to myself wait.. stop....let me off this train.

Thoughts of confusion drift through my head.
As I lay here now in the hospital bed.
Am I ready for this...still just a child myself.
Too late now, best put my fears on the shelf.

Her head is out I hear the doctor say,
"give me your hands and help guide her way."
As I reach down to grab her my heart floods with love.
And I think to myself here's our gift from above.

On my breast your head rests, a bond forms that no one will sever.
You're hands so small, now cradle my heart forever.
You have your daddies eyes and my cute nose.
And hair soft as silk, I'll tie it in bows.

I am certain that this has helped me to grow.
Unconditional love is now something I know.
There are no explanations just that feeling inside.
So just relax and hold on for this glorious ride.

    Hey
When I read this poem, it brought back memories(even though it wasnt so long ago) of when I had her, just the relief that I had when she came out and I heard that first cry.. all I couldve thought of then was I just hope shes a healthy baby and Ill do my best and try my hardest to make her happy. I also wanted to apologize for taking so long to read this, just so much going on right now and I also wanted to thank you for entering.

This had an exceptional flow to it. It was truly great to hear the experience from waiting to labor to birth. Reminds me of giving birth to my baby...awwww..I love that. Good luck.
