shooting star

When you see a shooting star
Whats the first thing that you do
You close your eyes and hope and pray
That your wishes will come true

But isn't that too much to ask
From a star up in the sky
For it to stop to grant your wish
To ask it not to fly

For this star is very special
And others want it too
In hopes that maybe its their wish
That will be coming true

And then one day it happens
When you look up in the sky
You see it there so close to you
That star goes flying by

But as you rush to catch that star
You trip over your feet
Then it flies away forever
You realize you have been beat

Kinda like hope found and lost. Quite sad really at the end, no matter how hard you wiah and pray everything has to move on. Great write.

    Good luck in the contest

    Good!

Interesting theme. Meter's good, rhymes too, though the rhyme scheme's pretty standard. I like the idea of the star being able to grant only one wish and that our wish upon it effectively cancels out others wishes. Keep it up.
