To Mary6

To Mary6 (Mary A King.)

M  ature, fine daughters made her Grandma twice.
A  bundant love this single mother shares,
R  eturned by all who know how much she cares.
Y  outhful her looks, not plain but really nice.
6  of the finest sonnets one could  learn.
M  ore than four hundred postings here to date
A  dventurous in the formats she addresses
R  ewarded with ninety trophies (that impresses!)
Y  et humble withal, she shows her Christian state.
A  nimals’ constant welfare her concern.
K  neeling at gravestones, epitaphs she reads;
I   nvestigating ghost towns for their history;
N  ever averse to tragedy or mystery.
G  odfearing, useful in the life she leads.

Hugh Wyles, March 3rd.2005.

Author notes

Welcome to my list of favourites, Mary. It was the quality of Mary's sonnets (as was the case with MargaretG) which first prompted me to invite Mary to join my 'harem' but I am discovering that she has many other fine qualities and that she writes brilliantly in other forms.
The above sonnet, which I humbly dedicate to Mary King,
has a rhyme scheme abbaCdeedCfggf.

    Welcome Mary!

    What an honor to have such a solid sonneteer join our ranks. I believe some of the finest taht AP has to offer are now all in one place.
    You have done a lovely job with this tribute, and I do love it when you write a more noble piece such as this.

    A lovely welcoming sonnet for Mary, Hugh. She sounds like a pretty cool lady

    You know, your harem is growing and growing..... it's a good thing (for you) that we all get along well...I don't think you'd want to deal with us otherwise

    A very nice poem here for Mary, Hugh

    I agree, Mary is completely amazing, she succeeds at whatever she tries, and has a natural feeling for meter. She's been one of my favorites for a long time, and I'm happy that she is now one of yours too.

    As I wrote you this sonnet made me feel just wonderful! It is rare that I am able to see my own qualities and so this work is a gift even beyond the lovely welcome it gives because it made me feel very good indeed. I read it many times and am overwhelmed and completely delighted. Very grateful and honored to be on your list! A big thank you!!
